Cheyenne
She is charming, in fact, so much that Stacey has allowed her into his easy chair at night and rubs her tummy.
Cheyenne helps us daily on the farm. Loading calves, milking, moving cows, loading chute for doctoring. She loves to ride the Gator. She trails the cows for us and helps with the bottle baby calves. During harvest, Cheyenne rides the tractor, combine, corn picker, and is my hay baling buddy. She barks and alerts when people arrive but then is quite friendly. At break time, she loves to eat nabs and enjoys half a cup of warm, fresh milk every morning.
Cheyenne loves to chase birds out of the field and has a hole she checks daily. She is a good squirrel dog. But from day one, her brilliance has shown in ways that we were amazed. We could show her something a couple times and she had it. Her bid-ability working sheep and cattle learning the commands of away, go bye, down, sit, stay.
Cheyenne has excellent confirmation. She has strong muscling on her back, neck, and hip. Her feet are built for work and are very rub-able.
Cheyenne is sable and white colored. She has her Junior Herding Dog, Herding Trial Arena Dog Level I, and we are working on our Level IIs and doing quite well. All of this on sheep.

Cheyenne comes from Maple Grove Farm and a distinguished line of herding trial dogs on her sire's side. Drover, her sire, is an AHBA Herding Trail Champion and he achieved this on sheep, ducks, and geese. Drover's sire, Lucas, is a working cow dog on a cattle ranch in Wyoming along with Drover's dam, Elsa. Drover's grand-dam, Peaslee's Honey, was the first English Shepherd AHBA Herding Trial Champion. There are only nine English Shepherds that are AHBA Herding Trail Champions.
Drover is an awesome herding dog. He has worked 200 head of sheep single-handed and dog broke them. He has found 70 head of sheep that were lost in the middle of the night. He has found sheep in the night that were hiding in underbrush and brought them home. He is a herding trail champion and has been Kay's loyal friend and companion. He is her "Little Buddy." He is the most biddable and agreeable dog. He has a watch eye and is the dog in charge at Maple Grove Farm. Drover is the one that is called on when it's a difficult task.
BOO is a great mother and she has kept the sheep out of the yard and in the field in the tall grass. She is a good herding dog for sheep but a better cattle dog. BOO comes from the Helms line in Marshville and those dogs were known far and wide for their herding abilities with cattle. BOO is also a good guard dog and varmint hunter and just a good all around loyal companion. Photos of BOO's Sire.
